Rockstar hasn't confirmed the exact mechanism yet. In GTA5, cheats were entered by pulling out your phone and dialing a specific number — no menu, no pause screen. GTA6's marketing has leaned even harder into phone-based interaction, so a similar dial-in system is the most likely carryover, but until Rockstar or a verified source confirms it, treat it as an expectation rather than a fact.

In every mainline GTA title going back to GTA5, activating a cheat code disabled trophy/achievement unlocks for the rest of that play session — saving and reloading cleared the flag. We expect GTA6 to follow the same rule, but it has not been officially confirmed.

Historically, no — GTA Online has never allowed cheat codes, and GTA5's single-player cheats were hard-blocked from online sessions entirely. Rockstar hasn't announced GTA6's online mode yet (see our Leaks & Updates page for the latest on that), so this page will update once multiplayer details — and its cheat policy — are confirmed.

There's nothing to confirm yet — GTA6 is launching November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, with no announced PC release date. Every cheat page on this site marks PC as "Coming Soon" for exactly this reason, and we'll add PC-specific codes the moment a PC version ships and cheats are verified for it.

No. Cheat codes have always been a free, built-in feature of every mainline GTA game — there's no purchase, subscription, or DLC required to use them, and we'd be surprised if that changed for GTA6.

Most GTA cheats toggle — entering the same code again switches the effect back off. A handful are one-shot triggers (like spawning a vehicle) rather than an on/off state. Each cheat page on this site spells out which kind it is once real GTA6 codes are verified and published.

Verified means a cheat has been confirmed by two or more independent sources, or directly by Rockstar. Rumored means it has only surfaced from a single source and hasn't been cross-referenced yet.
